Term 4 Week 6 Diary

Term 4 Week 6 at Kindy –

  • When we entered the classroom this week, we were very intrigued to find dinosaur bones scattered around the classroom. We worked together as a team of palaeontologists and created a dinosaur skeleton. This week we were very excited to be greeted by some dinosaurs in our role-play corner.
  • We learnt about many different dinosaurs, such as the Tyrannosaurus Rex, Stegosaurus, Triceratops, Diplodocus and many more. We learnt that some dinosaurs are carnivores because they eat meat and fish, some dinosaurs are herbivores because they eat plants and some are omnivores because they eat meat, fish and plants.
  • We were very proud of how much we already knew about dinosaurs and even taught the teachers some interesting facts that were new to them. We learnt that dinosaurs have not been living on planet Earth for over 65 million years and that dinosaurs are extinct.
  • We read a new story called ‘Dinosaurs Galore’, created dinosaur posters and wrote describing words around our dinosaurs using our fantastic sound knowledge.
  • We learnt our new sound ‘Cc’ this week and look forward to learning our new sound ‘Hh’ next week. We have been practising forming our new letters and sounds on whiteboards. I wonder what will come out of our surprise bag next week?
  • We enjoyed creating our own dinosaur and shell fossils and look forward to being palaeontologists next week. We will be helping our friends match the correct dinosaur stamps and shells to our fossils.
