Weekly Diary Term 1 Week 7

Term 1 Week 7 at kindy –

  • This week we have been looking at what it means to live in Australia and the things we do because we are Australian. We looked at all of the special animals that only live in Australia as well as some of the sports we like to play.
  • At the end of the week we had an Australian dress up day where we all came dressed as something that is typically Australian. We had life savers, footballers, people dressed in the Australian flag and we even had a shark and a funnel web spider.
  • Thankyou to some of our parents who came back to kindy to cook the delicious sausages for us. We enjoyed listening to them sizzle. Mrs Ford even gave us a cool treat afterwards with a yummy icy pole. What a great day and it made us realise how lucky we are to live in Australia.
  • We have been practising our sizing this week. Sometimes we use our eyes to decide which object is the biggest and which one is the smallest and then there are ones in the middle. Sometimes we use blocks to determine the biggest and smallest by measuring their size. We have also been trying to think of different words that mean big and small like huge and tiny.
  • We were also scientists this week. We set up an experiment to see what effect the sun would have on a block of ice, a piece of cut apple, a block of chocolate and a piece of bread. Wow the ice block melted and then disappeared altogether it was so hot. Mrs Ford said it had evaporated. The chocolate alsomelted, the bread turned into toast and the apple went brown and wrinkly. It was fun watching the changes.
  • We weren’t allowed to eat the experiment but we are hoping that next week’s program has a little more chocolate in it!!
